Celebrity Stork Report | The Baby Naming Experience
What's in a Jackson?
New mom, Charlize Theron named her adopted son Jackson following the trend of many parents who are opting for traditional surnames as first names for their children. So how does Jackson fare when moved into that first name position. This is a name influence that will do its best to create huge amounts of independence while also delivering an ability to play a role. So this little guy will be able to drop under the radar if he so chooses... or join his famous mom in the entertainment industry when he gets older. Overall, this is not a name I advise as a first name because it does create isolation. But perhaps that's exactly what a famous lady wants for her little guy!
What's in a Maxwell?
Jessica Simpson welcomed daughter Maxwell Drew on Tuesday, May 1 and opted to pick a uni-sex name as not only a first name but for a middle name as well. Good idea? This little girl may be considering a name change once she reaches adulthood as she struggles with a name that does not announce her gender with clarity. In a society where we often meet others for the first time through an impersonal e-mail or business card it can be a disadvantage to have a name that tells little about one's gender. A word of advice to other parents considering uni-sex first names? Pick a middle name that is gender-specific. That way, the individual can put the middle name on a business card for clarity if desired. See for yourself the difference between: Maxwell Drew Johnson and Maxwell Dyannah Johnson.
